Thanks for following along with XanFree this year as we continue to try to spread awareness and help those who may be struggling right now. The past few weeks we have gone through plenty of information that may have helped you, but this week we are covering our favorite topic: Nutrition! Today we will look at 3 new ingredients- Ashwagandha, Valerian Root, Passionflower.

Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha is a nontoxic herb found in India, the Middle East, and parts of Africa. It is believed that this herb is capable of relieving stress & anxiety symptoms as well as memory.

Ashwagandha root has been a popular herbal medicine in Ayurveda for centuries. Ashwagandha Root can be used to boost GABA production in the body. The herb activates GABA receptors, which is how it can deliver these effects.

Valerian Root

 

Valerian Root

 

Valerian is an herb that is native to Europe and parts of Asia. The root of this herb is believed to be the most impactful part of the plant. It is believed to aid in the relief of sleeping disorders like insomnia.

It is interesting to note that the Valerian genus contains more than 200 species of plants. The most frequently used parts of this herb are rhizomes, stolons, and roots.

Throughout history, valerian has been popular as a medicinal plant. Even Hippocrates recommended the herb for its therapeutic properties. Today, it can assist with sleeping disorders, Gi distress, ADHD, and other medical conditions.

Passionflower Extract

 

Passionflower Extract

 

Passionflower is a climbing vine that is native to the southeastern United States, and Central and South America. This herb has been traditionally taken orally for sleep problems, as well as anxiety.

Passionflower is an intriguing plant with various potential benefits. The way this herb interacts with the GABAergic system gives it a lot of potential anxiolytic properties. The working process is similar to other plants with anxiolytic properties, such as skullcap or ashwagandha.
