Ingredients of Xanfree: L-Theanine, L-Lysine & L-Arginine

Thanks for following along with XanFree this year as we continue to try to spread awareness and help those who may be struggling right now. The past few weeks we have gone through plenty of information that may have helped you, but this week we are covering our favorite topic: Nutrition! Today we will look at 3 ingredients - L-Theanine, L-Lysine, and L-Arginine.

L-Theanine

L-Theanine

L-Theanine is an amino acid that is often found in tea leaves. It is thought to be a source of umami, the savory, brothy taste. It also is believed to boost levels of GABA and other brain calming chemicals.

L-theanine belongs to non-protein amino acids, meaning it is able to pass through the blood-brain barrier. This allows for it to have numerous benefits, such as calming effects, modulation of dopamine and serotonin, etc.

It doesn’t seem that L-Theanine has any side effects.

You can learn more about L-Theanine and studies done on it here.

L-Lysine

L-Lysine

L-Lysine is also an amino acid. L-Lysine is necessary for many bodily functions however, the body does not naturally produce it. So you must obtain this from your diet as it may help the body absorb calcium, iron and zinc as well as help in the process of enzyme and antibody production.

An alternative method to obtaining lysine is from supplements. Experts say that the requirement of lysine is different depending on one's age. It is estimated that the average intake of an adult through diets is 40 to 180mg/(kgxd) with the upper limit is set to 300-400 milligrams.

L-Arginine

L-Arginine

L-Arginine, today's final amino acid, helps the body build protein, stimulate the release of growth hormones, and more!

L-Arginine is helpful in producing nitric oxide by acting as a substrate. Immune and endothelial cells produce NO, which plays a crucial role in optimal immunity and blood pressure management.

You can consume arginine by eating food sources such as turkey, chicken, and pork loin. Soybeans, lentils, and chickpeas have a high quantity of arginine as well. You can also find this amino acid in dairy, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, and spirulina.
